The Naked Flames are one of the newest groups to rise from the underbelly of Cork's overflowing with talent music scene. Geoff O'Hagan was that guy from Manchester who hosted that Tuesday open Mic at Fred's and Then The Cruiscin back in the day, giving many local musicians the chance to cut their teeth. He was a gentleman back then and he's still a gentleman now. Fortunately for us however, he's recently prepared an excellent bunch of songs and with the help of drummer Kalle Ronkainen (ex Great Egress) and Violinist Christian Martin (Silta) will deliver them in his laid back no nonsense, sweet musical style this Thursday night under the moniker 'The Naked Flames'.
Support is from The Moving Blues. The Moving Blues is a project driven by local songwriters Yvonne O'Grady and Andy Wilson. The name originally arose when considering an approaching performance in Norway. Previously this year they have performed as Mature Swimming Onions, Don't Microwave your Kids, Cornish Pastie and the Juicy Jambons, Johnny and his Phone and Arthur and the Disco Biscuits. Says Andy 'The Moving Blues reflects the feeling we're left with due to change in our lives. Friends moving away. Lifestyles changing. Do I need to get a 'real' job or can i keep on being a kid for another year? Things happen quickly without you realising and then you're left feeling uncertain and blue. The Moving Blues is our own little personal remedy'.
This musical evening commences around 9pm and is in association with the Cork Music Collective.
