Get ready for two artfully noisy evenings of real-time interactive music. Featuring Han-earl Park, Roslyn Steer and Dan Walsh, plus guests including Tony O’Connor, Kevin Terry and John Godfrey, the events take place on Sunday, 28 September and Monday, 20 October 2014, upstairs at The Roundy, Castle Street, Cork, Ireland. The performances begin at 8:30 pm (doors open at 8:15 pm) and admission is a single euro note of your choice (€5/10/20/etc.) at the door.
Recently returning to Cork after two years in New York, Han-earl Park is something of a veteran of the Cork improvised music scene. While in New York, Park performed with some of the most respected creative musicians including Evan Parker, Gerald Cleaver and Andrea Parkins, and as part of his trio Eris 136199 with Nick Didkovsky and Catherine Sikora. In Cork, he is perhaps best known for his work as part of Mathilde 253 with Charles Hayward and Ian Smith, his collaborations with Paul Dunmall, and as the founder and curator of Stet Lab.
Park will be joined by the Cork-based musicians, bassist Roslyn Steer (best known for her work as part of Saint Yorda) and drummer Dan Walsh (curator of Blue Note at The Roundy and the Cork Improvised Music Club).
With guest performers over the two evening including guitarist, composer and UCC lecturer John Godfrey (of the new music groups The Crash Ensemble and The Quiet Music Ensemble), guitarist Kevin Terry (of the psychedelic alt. rock outfit, Altered Hours), and Tony O’Connor (an original stalwart of Stet Lab), the performances promise to be unique, iconoclast and memorable.
